Church of Sanctuary
The Dublin Unitarian Church expresses its deep sorrow and regret at the war in Ukraine. As a church with sister congregations in Central and Eastern Europe, we express our solidarity with the suffering people of Ukraine, to whom we feel particularly close at this tragic time. We are also a Church of Sanctuary, committed to welcoming refugees, asylum-seekers and other vulnerable migrants into our church community, and offering any help we can give them. In recent years our Unitarian Refugee Welcome Committee has sponsored and helped refugees to Ireland from South Sudan and Afghanistan and continues to offer support to those who need it.
Services
All welcome.The Dublin Unitarian Church welcomes all in a spirit of freedom, reason and tolerance. Attendance at our services is open to everyone and there is no formal requirement for membership. Those attending regularly are encouraged to participate in church activities and make financial contributions towards the running and upkeep of the church.

History
The lively congregation which gathers at the 150-year-old church in St. Stephen’s Green owes its origin to English Puritans who arrived in Ireland in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. Although the location of the earliest Meeting House in Dublin remains unknown, by the 1660s the descendants of the first Puritans were meeting in Wood Street, which is situated between Aungier Street and Peter Street. In the Community
In our church, service is our prayer. Some of our work in the community includes; engaging in the refugee resettlement programme, working for residents of direct provision centres, giving funds and skills to many charities, supporting justice and peace initiatives, while also providing an open and inclusive church in the centre of Dublin City.

Getting There:
By LUAS – opposite the St Stephen’s Green LUAS stop (Green Line).
By Bus – 3 minute walk from stops on Wexford St. and Aungier St. and 5 minute walk from stops on College Green.
By Car – there is some on-street parking near the church or in the College of Surgeons multi-storey car park.
Access – there are steps up to the church. For people of limited mobility, there is a small lift (two persons maximum) to the side of the building.
