Dublin Unitarian Church is pleased to open its doors during the annual Culture Night celebrations. Members of the public are encouraged to visit for spotlight cultural events on the hour or in the gaps between the events (generally the second half of each hour). Our programme this year is
5pm – “Sanctuary Tales” poems, stories and the odd song from the immigrants, refugees and asylum-seekers of the Dublin City of Sanctuary group
6pm – “Echoes From The Past” a talk drawing on entries to the baptism book of Dublin Unitarian Church by Rev. Bridget Spain
7pm – Come & Sing with Ardú (choral workshop) – an introduction to choral music featuring melody, harmony and rhythm by using their voices, body percussion and even some beatboxing !!
8pm – Under Pressure: a rehearsed reading of a play about a family having to deal with the menace of drug dealers. Presented by Uncut Diamonds theatre group in the north inner-city
9pm – Come & Sing with Ardú (choral workshop) – an introduction to choral music featuring melody, harmony and rhythm by using their voices, body percussion and even some beatboxing !!
10pm – Dublin Capital City 1974 / 75 (film), a 1975 silent film featuring footage of Dublin city shot by Jim Mulkerns, improvised score performed by Josh Johnston, organist at Dublin Unitarian Church, with an introduction by the director’s daughter, Helena Mulkerns
There will also be items on display detailing the history of the church building and denomination. Visitors are welcome to ask the volunteers from the church congregation questions – if they don’t have all the answers, they will be able to find them for you !!Share on Facebook
